Postdoctoral fellow position in the CIIT program (Job ID: 276244) A postdoctoral fellow position in tumor immunology and immunotherapy is available in the Cancer Immunology, Inflammation and Tolerance Program of Georgia Cancer Center at Augusta University. Through multiomics functional and spatial analyses, this research project focuses on the cellular and molecular interactions among immune cells, stromal and tumor cells that enforce the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment in preclinical models. Key Responsibilities: • Discuss timely and regularly with the principle investigator about the research direction, results, and any scientific and technical issues to be overcome; • Function independently in designing and planning experiments using established protocols and procedures in the laboratory. Trouble shoot and when necessary improve existing protocols or design new protocols; • Collect, analyze and interpret research data. Keep a detailed notebook documenting experimental procedures and recording research data. Maintain an organized computer database of research data; • Tabulate and present the results in lab meetings, group discussion and research conferences. • Keep abreast with pertinent scientific literature and take the initiative in writing manuscripts. • Supervise other personnel in the laboratory to coordinate research efforts for increased efficiency. Participate in training of fellows, residents, students and technicians when needed. Required Qualifications and experience: • Ph.D. or equivalent in Immunology, Biological Sciences, Genetics, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline pertinent to biomedical research. • The expertise/experience in using multicolor flow cytometry and in handling small animals is required (e.g., tail-vein injection and bleeding techniques). • Experience in tissue culture, harvesting and processing animal tissues for functional analyses of immune cells is required. • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. • Highly motivated and hardworking with communication skills and a collaborative mindset. Preferred Qualifications and experience: • Ph.D. Immunology, genomics or molecular biology. • Experience in the field of immunology. • Experience in standard molecular biology technics, such as DNA, RNA harvesting, PCR, real-time RT-PCR, gene silencing, and preparation of single cell and nuclei specimens for single RNA-sequencing, is preferred. • Experience with bioinformatic analysis is considered an additional asset. • Demonstrated success in writing and publishing original research paper.
