The Wolff lab at Ohio State is seeking a postdoctoral scholar with nuclear, mechanical, or materials science engineering background to join our group. The postdoctoral scholar must be either a (1) a United States Citizen; or (2) a non-citizen national of the United States; or (3) a non-United Citizen who has have been lawfully admitted to the United States for permanent residence. The ideal candidate has a strong background in one of more of these areas: -Nuclear interactions with materials -Metal additive manufacturing, particularly directed energy deposition -Ceramics manufacturing -Machine control -Computational materials science This role provides an opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in advanced manufacturing, material performance in extreme environments, and nuclear applications. Key responsibilities are to conduct fundamental research on metal additive manufacturing, especially on fuctionally graded materials. Expectations include to mentor PhD and undergraduate students, lead projects, collaborate with multidiscplinary teams within Ohio State, among other universities, industry, and national labs. The candidate will be expected to publish in peer-reviewed journals and present at scientific conferences. Required qualifiations are: -Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. -Demonstrated expertise in metal additive manufacturing, metallurgy, or a related area. -Experience with experimental techniques and/or computational modeling relevant to material behavior and processing. -Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. -A proven track record of peer-reviewed publications.
